Referral and Enrollment

ISD is an option on the continuum of education for Iowa’s school-aged students who are deaf or hard of hearing. ISD offers specialized services, programming and opportunities for students and addresses educational, social, emotional and behavioral needs of each student.

ISD is supported by state appropriations. Therefore, no housing costs or tuition is charged to referring Iowa school districts. ISD is regionally and nationally accredited, offers a preschool and transition program, state licensed teachers of the deaf, day and residential options.

The ISD team was helpful in talking through the IEP, transportation, and even different activities offered at the school. They clearly communicated how the referral and other processes happen, as well as the timeframe. Enrolling our student was a smooth transition for us.”

Trevor Miller, Superintendent, Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton Community School District
