“Substitutes” or “temporary” employees assist in a variety of programs on campus. These positions are on-call, as-needed positions and have no guarantee of hours/schedule. Substitute Teachers: To be a substitute teacher in Iowa, you need a teacher license (substitute License is fine) or the Substitute Authorization issued by the Board of Educational Examiners: http://www.state.ia.us/boee/ A Substitute Authorization can be obtained by a person holding a baccalaureate degree who completes the substitute training program. Several area education agencies have been approved to offer the substitute authorization program. Please contact the staff development coordinator at your area education agency for information regarding the program offering.
