Substitute | On-Call Positions

Applications for these positions are accepted year-round. All substitutes work on an as-needed basis. There are no benefits for substitutes.

Houseparent I

Pay $12.02/hour. Work overnight shift supervising students in the residences; responsible for waking children and ensuring students are ready for school in the morning; does regular room checks and tends to emergency and other situations as they arise. Sign language skills strongly preferred.

Houseparent II

Pay $14.35/hour. Responsible for all aspects of student’s care and well-being during non-school hours. Evening shifts on weekdays and daytime and evening shifts on weekends. Sign language skills strongly preferred.

School Assistant

Pay $12.02/hour. Assists in the classroom; possibly one-on-one with a special needs child. Provides assistance, direction and support in order to enhance the educational process. Sign language skills strongly preferred.

Bus Driver

Pay $13.72/hour. Requires CDL and Iowa school bus driver permit, good driving record. Requires drug & alcohol testing.

Teacher

Pay $120/day depending on length of assignment. Sign language skills and/or experience working with the deaf strongly preferred.

Educational Interpreter

Pay $18.25/hour. Provides sign language interpreting services to elementary through high school level students who are enrolled in the school’s off-campus programs. State of Iowa interpreting license required.
