ISD 8th grader wins national contest

Congratulations to Iowa School for the Deaf 8th grader, Damien Holste, who was the middle school winner of Gallaudet University’s national American Sign Language poetry competition! Damien worked with his teacher, Justin Cyboron, to create and submit the piece and compete against peers from around the country. Damien will receive $100 and a certificate for his work. The poem is about a rooster trying to attract a nearby hen by swallowing a worm- that then gets away. See how the laws of attraction apply (or do not) in his performance of IMPRESSING THE GIRL.
